WWE SmackDown comes to Dublin, Ireland, this Friday night! WWE is back in Europe, ready to delight that portion of the WWE Universe. It’s an interesting card this week, to say the least, providing everyone with something to sink their teeth into. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here’s a full WWE SmackDown preview for August 22nd, 2025. Let’s run it down.
Just a week away from WWE Clash in Paris, John Cena makes his presence felt in Dublin. A few weeks ago, Cena teamed up with the man who took away the Undisputed WWE Championship from him at SummerSlam against Drew McIntyre, and his next PLE opponent, Logan Paul. The match was stellar, giving the fans a Premium Live Event-level tag team main event. Unfortunately, it would end in a disqualification after Paul delivered a low blow to Cena, and beat him and Rhodes down to cap off an exciting night.
Speaking of John Cena, a man who had a part in bringing him back from the dark side was R-Truth. The veteran was all smiles last week backstage until Aleister Black came into the fold. Black has not forgotten his past transgressions with the man known as R-Truth, and he wants his revenge and wants Ron Killings to show up. On last week’s show, Melo Don’t Miz (The Miz & Carmelo Hayes) defeated Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer), amid blind tag drama from Miz and Hayes. They will now battle Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) this week.
The match was set up following a backstage segment where Hayes and Miz interrupted MCMG, who were talking to GM Nick Aldis. Hayes wanted to ask for a US title shot. Aleister Black will battle R-Truth in a singles match this week. The match was announced following their heated exchange in a backstage segment this week. Black confronted Truth in a backstage segment and asked how Truth felt about his other friend, Damian Priest, noting that with friends like him, one doesn’t need enemies. Truth confronted Black, who told him he would see him next week before leaving.
