The May 9th episode of Friday Night SmackDown is expected to be a big one, as it’s the final show before the Backlash Premium Live Event this week. Therefore, fans can look forward to an exciting and action-packed night from beginning to end. Tonight’s WWE SmackDown promises to deliver high drama and storylines that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. With appearances featuring John Cena and matches like Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax and more it’s bound to be a show you won’t want to miss. WWE SmackDown will air live from the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio, starting at 8 PM ET.
John Cena will be on SmackDown one last time before his big title match at Backlash, where he is to defend the Undisputed Championship against Randy Orton. During the May 2nd edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Orton gave a serious warning, and Cena will respond to the same during SmackDown this week, so we’ll have to see what he will say. Before their upcoming U.S. Title match at Backlash, Damian Priest and LA Knight will team up to face off against Jacob Fatu, and Solo Sikoa in a tag team match and fans can’t wait to see who will come out on top. Jade Cargill will face Nia Jax to decide who gets the next shot at Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Women’s Championship. Jax has been on a path of destruction ever since she returned on SmackDown a couple of weeks ago, so it remains to be seen if she can beat Cargill and get a shot at Stratton’s title.
On last week’s WWE SmackDown, Randy Orton kept it short and sweet; he wants Cena’s head on a silver platter as well as the Undisputed WWE Championship. Ever since the Raw after WWE WrestleMania 41, these two have traded jabs and physical shots, rekindling their nearly 20-year rivalry. John Cena is only here to keep up appearances and plans on walking away once his obligations are fulfilled, preferably as the “real champion” of WWE. Last week, Orton made it explicitly clear that Cena has awakened something inside him that hasn’t been brought out in a long time. That said, if it means keeping the promotion, industry, and the Orton family name safe, he’s willing to listen to the voices in his head and cut the John Cena Retirement tour short. This week, the Undisputed WWE Champion has something to say ahead of his showdown with his arch-nemesis for the championship.
