AEW is putting in the effort to make Saturday night’s Collision count. Split into two one-hour segments over the weekend, each episode will perhaps look to borrow from Rampage’s mantra as the fastest hour in wrestling.
Each show benefits, like Grand Slam Australia, from another big sports-related lead-in. Slam Dunk Saturday offers four interesting contests. Across both nights, we are getting range. Saturday features a title match, a series decider, an ass-whooping, and a signature AEW multi-man. Konosuke Takeshita, alongside The Murder Machines, may serve up a platter of beef, chicken, and sugar.
Spike took a bite out of Jon Moxley Wednesday; Saturday we could see a woman decapitated. That almost happened to Julia Hart during her second-round match with Queen Aminata. Aminata’s strike was surgical. This rivalry between two of AEW’s youngest female stars was an absolutely sick-sounding and hard-hitting treat. The second match topped the first. There are big expectations for the third. For Hart, getting to compete in a trilogy prior to requesting a third match with Jamie Hayter would give the former princess momentum. However, Aminata cannot be underestimated. Especially with support- it seems- from The Professor, Serena Deeb. Thinking more broadly, whoever wins puts themselves in a strong position, perhaps for a title shot down the line. This is a hard-to-call match.
