The March 6 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will deal with the aftermath of the Elimination Chamber premium live event. That’s why WWE has put together a strong lineup to keep fans entertained from the start of the show. Tonight’s WWE SmackDown promises to deliver high drama and storylines that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. With appearances from Trick Williams and more, it’s bound to be a show you won’t want to miss. WWE SmackDown will air from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, starting at 8 PM ET.
Drew McIntyre will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes on the March 6 edition of SmackDown. This comes after McIntyre screwed Rhodes at the Elimination Chamber, leading to Nick Aldis making the match official. So we’ll have to see whether Rhodes will walk out with the title. After winning the Elimination Chamber match to punch her ticket for WrestleMania 42, Rhea Ripley will come face-to-face with Jade Cargill on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Considering the animosity between the two, fans are waiting to see whether fists will fly when they meet. Newly crowned WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend will also celebrate their recent tag team title victory, after beating Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY for the titles. Finally, a No. 1 contender’s match for the WWE Tag Team Titles will be taking place but the participants haven’t been announced yet.
On the one hand, some folks might look at Drew’s constant interference and say he’s getting exactly what he deserves for not heeding Nick’s warnings. On the other hand, I wonder why isn’t Jacob Fatu getting the same opportunity as Rhodes? Aldis assumes that Drew is the one who took out Fatu in a backstage attack last October, and Drew also screwed Fatu out of qualifying for the Elimination Chamber multiple times. Nick already promised Jacob that he will give him Drew, but he just needs to be patient. Something doesn’t add up here. The sudden booking decision to put Cody in this title match, just minutes after he lost in the Elimination Chamber, comes off as WWE’s way of forcing the golden boy into the other main event of WrestleMania 42.
Rhodes looks like the favorite to reclaim the gold tonight, unless Fatu and/or others get involved for a DQ finish. For whatever it’s worth, Drew says his legal team is trying to have tonight’s match “fixed,” which in this context I think means canceled. If that doesn’t happen and the match proceeds as scheduled, Drew said he does have a game plan in mind for retaining the belt. He will have to be the smartest guy in the room again to escape with the belt this time. Uncle Howdy beat Solo Sikoa last week, but he couldn’t secure the Wyatt family lantern afterwards due do an MFT attack. Aldis says new number one contenders for MFT’s WWE tag team championship will be determined tonight, but he didn’t specify who is involved or how it will go down.
